Longfellow Days, the month long celebration honoring Henry W. Longfellow in Brunswick, will take place in February. This year's theme will be Poet of the Heart, celebrating the loving relationships that enhance our personal and public lives. A wide range of activities will take place including community poetry, lectures, tours, dining and film events and more.

Feb 23 - Bridgton - Annual Family Fest - Shawnee Peak
24th Annual Family Fest at Shawnee Peak celebrating outdoor winter family fun. Family Fest will feature lots of activities, recreation and good times. Sign up for the Poker Run, Snow Volleyball Tournament, Pie-Eating Contest and Ugliest Ski Sweater contest on the courtyard from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. (near the cafeteria if it's snowing) Everything is free. Feb 24 thru Feb 25 - Bethel - Annual Bethel WinterFest
Come to Bethel and enjoy the fresh mountain air, and the events of WinterFest 2012. Events include Supervised Sliding Hill, Huge Fire and Ice Bonfire, Nordic, Alpine and Snowshoe Events, Mt. Abram Rail Jam (Friday), Snowgroomer Rides, Sleigh Rides, indoor activities throughout the area. There are lots of lodging and dining options. Feb 24 thru Feb 25 - Old Orchard Beach - Winter Carnival in Old Orchard Beach
OOB365 in cooperation with the Town of Old Orchard Beach, has planned a community event celebrating winter and bringing families together. The event takes place between February 24th and February 25th. The Winter Carnival kicks off Friday, February 24th with sledding down Old Orchard Street from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. along with music. On Saturday the action continues downtown from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. with sledding down Old Orchard Street, kids games, music, sled time-trials, snow tube racing and other crazy winter fun. You do not want to miss the Human Dog Sled Race! Put a team together and register to compete. There will be a happy hour pub crawl on Saturday at 5:30 p.m. It is a walking pub tour that starts at The Bell Buoy. Places will be offering a discount on beverages with your Winter Carnival button.

Feb 25 - Stockholm - Annual Sno Carnival
The 76th Annual Sno Carnival will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 25 at the Stockholm Community Center. The towns of the Maine Swedish Colony gather each year for a winter carnival featuring traditional Nordic skiing, sledding, and snowshoeing events for all ages along with good food and fellowship. Feb 25 - Presque Isle - Annual Winter Family Fun Day - Aroostook State Park
Spend a winter's day at the park. We have everything you need to have fun with the family, outside in Maine's winter wonderland. Cross country skiing, snowshoeing, ice skating (conditions permitting and must provide own skates), sliding, snowmobile "tote-rides", dog sled rides, guided nature interpretive walks, bonfires and hot food. Have no equipment? Don't know how to use it? Don't worry, We have all of that, including expert instruction! All you need is to wear warm winter clothing and want to have fun. This will be a drop off area for "Feed the County." So let's help our neighbors please and bring in non perishable / canned foods. Lunch is provided! Fee for adults is $1.50, everyone else (including seniors) free. $2 donation per person for dog sled rides. Mar 03 - Skowhegan - FAB Fair
The annual FAB Fair at Skowhegan Area High School has displays of Skowhegan area businesses, civic organizations, crafters, town government and more. For one week each March, the City of Ships becomes the City of the Irish as Downtown Bath celebrates Bath Blarney Days. Join us in downtown Bath for a week of fun beginning with Irish films and a Friday night Moonlight Madness Sale, followed by a 5K "Shamrock Sprint." Cap off the week on the 17th with Maine's largest St. Patricks Day Parade and many more activities.

The Irish American Club of Maine will hold it's annual St. Patrick's Day Parade on March 17th at noon. The parade will follow along Commercial Street from the Fish Pier to the State Pier. This year will be bigger and better than ever with two pipe bands, the Stillson School of Irish Dance, The Portland Hurling Club and the Maine Gaelic Sports Alliance. Come out and share the Irish Spirit in Portland!

Mar 31 - Bridgton - Spring Fling at Shawnee Peak
The 27th Annual Spring Fling promises to be a day of sun, fun, music and lots of laughs! Celebrating the beginning on Spring, the event captures the essence of the season's skiing and riding - lots of soft snow, live entertainment, sumptuous BBQ and lounging on the Blizzard's Pub party deck, catching rays and enjoying the weather! There is no better way to welcome Spring. The Slush Cup (starts at 1:30 p.m.) pits skiers and snowboarders against a 100-foot-long man-made pond of ice cold water. Skim along as far as you can go, before falling victim to the laws of gravity! Register (for free) in the base lodge from 10am-11:30am. Kids under 18 must have a parent or guardian accompany them to sign the liability paperwork. Schedule: 10 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. - Free Slush Cup registration near the cafeteria in the Base Lodge (outside if the weather's nice!)! Snow Volleyball teams can register at this time, too. 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m.: BBQ next to the Great Room. Burgers, dogs and all the fix ins. Noon to 1:30 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. to 5 p.m.: Live Entertainment in Blizzard's Pub!
